Today I'm Just A Little Sad!
What's up? I wrote this blog on January 15, 2010, but i was really emotional after I wrote it, so I'm just now publishing it. Today January 15, I'm a little sad because today would have been Jasmin Hubbard's 21th birthday. Jasmin passed away in October of 2008 of an enlarged heart at the age of 19. She was a very extraordinary young lady, who had determination and drive that helped her accomplish almost EVERYTHING she wanted in her short life. In the world Jasmin lived in, the word can't, didn't seem to exist. She was a bright, vibrant young lady, who when you met her, you KNEW SHE WAS GOING TO BE SOMEBODY! You never know how someone will impact your life when you meet them. I surely didn't realize how much she impacted mine until she was gone! So to Judy, Hol, Marcus, Sandra, Sonya and Maurice, I'm keeping all of you in my prayers today.
Today is also the day I buried my best friend Shirley J. Johnson. She was a victim of LGBT Domestic Violence back in 1993. I know a lot of you knew Shirley, played basketball with her and just had a great time with her. If there was ever anyone who could just flat out dance, it was her. I know it's been 17 years since you were taken away from us, but we still miss you and think of you OFTEN. I know I have one promise yet to keep for you! I pray EVERY DAY that the opportunity doesn't present itself! RIP JASMIN AND SHIRLEY! I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU!

Happy New Year!
Like many of you, I attended Club Ambiance New Year Eve Party and enjoyed the evening. It made me proud to see the community coming together to support them on THEIR GIVEN NIGHT! It shows me what we can do if we are willing to make the commitment. But while I was at the party, I noticed there are several organizations, production companies and individuals planning to hold events on the same night as other groups. Maybe these people didn't see the turnout Club Ambiance got or maybe they just don't care! But if you divide the turnout Club Ambiance had by two or even three events, somebody ain't making their money back. I HOPE IT AIN'T YOU!
In response to ladyleo's comments on Decembers Cheers and Sneers page, I agree, one would think that everyone could come together and not schedule events on the same night, but I suspect it won't happen. But if you are willing to try and facilitate this meeting, give it a try. Also, Get on Your Feet Productions Dec. 12, 2009 party was planned before that other event!
